Seafarers’ Day 2016

Malaysia will be celebrating the Day of the Seafarer (HARI PELAUT) at the AKADEMI LAUT MALAYSIA (ALAM) in Kuala Sg Baru, Melaka commencing 5.00 pm on 25th June 2016 (Saturday) .

The Guest-of-Honour is the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport (MoT).

Event will include:

a) Grant of scholarships by the Central Mercantile Marine Fund (KWPPL) to successful candidates;

b) Presentation of Seafarers Education Fund (SEF) assistance by IKMAL to successful applicants who are IKMAL Members;

c) Presentation of financial assistance by the Malaysia Shipowners’ Association (MASA) to ex-Seafarers who are facing serious health afflictions;

d) Symbolic hand over of KUIH RAYA Goody Box by IKMAL to MASA, followed by the distribution of 100 such boxes to 100 ships berthed/anchored in Msian Ports as indication that we CARE;

d) Presentation of RM 25k worth of Vouchers by a maritime training institution to IKMAL for use by IKMAL Members to pay for courses they attend at the training institution;

e) Breaking of Fast/Maghrib Prayers for Muslim attendees followed by Dinner for all.

This event is organised by MarDept, assisted by IKMAL, ALAM, MASA, MyMET (Malaysian Maritime Education & Training Association) & other Strategic Partners.

All SEAFARERS & Family Members are cordially invited to attend.
